| | City Growth Liverpool is a radical new approach to economic development that aims to put business and enterprise at the heart of policy making, focussing on the economic potential and competitive advantages of underperforming City areas. We are part of a national initiative based on a successful American model pioneered by Professor Michael Porter from The Harvard Business School. The City Growth model has already been piloted in four UK cities and towns – St Helens, Plymouth, Nottingham and London.
We start from the recognition that it is local businesses and wealth creators who are the key to sustainable growth and prosperity.
We aim to unblock Liverpool’s economic potential by focusing on its existing and emerging strengths, and identifying and addressing barriers to business growth.
Our programme is being delivered by a Board led by some of the City’s most respected business leaders. Liverpool City Council, The Northwest Development Agency and all the City’s main regeneration and business support organisations are also supporting the project and are fully committed to implementing our strategy and recommendations. |
